Terms of Service

1. Description of Service

Luna Bot is a Discord bot providing moderation and utility features including but not limited to:

• Server moderation tools (warnings, mutes, kicks, bans)
• Automated moderation and content filtering
• Welcome and farewell messages
• Server utility commands and information
• Moderation logging and tracking
• Custom server configuration options

Luna Bot is part of the Eclipse Engine bot ecosystem and shares certain security features with other Eclipse Engine bots.

2. Eligibility and Requirements

2.1 Discord Terms

You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines when using Luna Bot.

2.2 Server Permissions

To use Luna Bot, you must:

• Have appropriate permissions in your Discord server (Administrator or Manage Server)
• Grant the bot necessary permissions to function properly
• Be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your country)
• Have legal authority to bind your server to these terms

2.3 Required Bot Permissions

Luna Bot requires specific Discord permissions to function. Restricting these permissions may limit functionality:

• View Channels
• Send Messages
• Manage Messages
• Kick Members
• Ban Members
• Moderate Members (Timeout)
• Manage Roles
• Read Message History

3. Acceptable Use Policy

3.1 Permitted Uses

You may use Luna Bot for:

• Legitimate server moderation and management
• Enhancing community safety and user experience
• Automating routine administrative tasks
• Maintaining server rules and guidelines

3.2 Prohibited Uses

You may NOT use Luna Bot to:

• Violate Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Spam, raid, or disrupt other Discord servers
• Distribute illegal content or facilitate illegal activities
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
• Attempt to hack, exploit, or reverse engineer the bot
• Circumvent rate limits or bot restrictions
• Use the bot for commercial purposes without permission
• Attempt to compromise the bot's security or stability
• Share or distribute bot tokens or access credentials

4. Blacklist System

4.1 Purpose

Luna Bot participates in the Eclipse Engine shared blacklist system to protect communities from:

• Servers engaging in raids or coordinated harassment
• Servers hosting illegal or harmful content
• Servers that violate Discord's Terms of Service
• Servers identified as security threats

4.2 Blacklist Actions

If your server is blacklisted:

• Luna Bot will automatically leave your server
• You will be unable to re-invite the bot
• The blacklist is shared across all Eclipse Engine bots
• Blacklist entries include reasons and timestamps

4.3 Appeals Process

If you believe your server was blacklisted in error, you may appeal by:

• Joining our support server
• Providing evidence of corrective action taken
• Demonstrating compliance with Discord's and our terms

We reserve the right to deny appeals at our discretion.

5. Service Availability and Modifications

5.1 Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Specific uptime percentages
• Compatibility with all Discord servers or configurations
• Immediate bug fixes or feature additions

5.2 Modifications

We reserve the right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any features at any time
• Update the bot's functionality and commands
• Change these Terms of Service with notice
• Implement new features or remove existing ones

5.3 Maintenance

Scheduled maintenance may temporarily interrupt service. We will provide notice when possible but are not required to do so for emergency maintenance.

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of Luna Bot is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using Luna Bot, you consent to our data collection and usage practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Ownership

Luna Bot, including its code, features, design, and branding, is owned by the Eclipse Engine project. All rights reserved.

7.2 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Luna Bot for its intended purposes. This license does not include the right to:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works
• Reverse engineer or decompile the bot
• Sell, rent, or sublicense access to the bot
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices

8. Liability and Disclaimers

8.1 No Warranty

8.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• We are not responsible for data loss, server issues, or moderation mistakes
• We are not liable for actions taken by server moderators using the bot
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the bot (which is $0)

8.3 Third-Party Services

Luna Bot integrates with Discord and Firebase. We are not responsible for:

• Discord API changes or downtime
• Third-party service interruptions
• Discord's moderation decisions affecting your server

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Luna Bot, Eclipse Engine, and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use or misuse of the bot
• Your violation of these Terms of Service
• Your violation of Discord's Terms or any applicable laws
• Content posted in your server while using the bot

10. Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your use of Luna Bot at any time by removing it from your server.

10.2 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to Luna Bot immediately, without notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Violation of Discord's Terms or Community Guidelines
• Abusive or malicious behavior
• Server blacklist status
• Any reason at our sole discretion

10.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your right to use Luna Bot immediately ceases
• Server configuration data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
• Some data may be retained for security or legal purposes

11. Dispute Resolution

11.1 Informal Resolution

Before pursuing formal action, please contact us through our support server to attempt informal resolution.

11.2 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

11.3 Arbitration

Any disputes not resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Material changes will be announced through:

• Discord announcements in our support server
• Bot notifications to server owners
• Updated "Last Updated" date on this page

Continued use of Luna Bot after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Luna Bot regarding your use of the service.
